HumanRights360 participated in the conference “Solidarity and Greek Crisis” organised by the European Project SOLIDUS, at the Dept. of Social and Educational Policy of the University of Peloponnese.
The panel “Doubling the Crises -solidarity and policy responses to the refugee crisis” included contributions by: Prof. Apostolos Papadopoulos, Harokopio University; Nassos Vitsentzatos, Pdt. of Social Inclusion of the Ministry of Migration Policy; Dr. Apostolos Veizis, Medicines without Borders; Foteini Pantopikou and Ioannis Baveas, International Organisation of Migration; Eleni Takou, HumanRights360.
Our intervention focused on the complementarity of roles between governmental and non-governmental actors and the crisis in EU policies of solidarity. “There is no dilemma between open and closed borders; this question is just used as a pretext. There is a dilemma of whether we will continue the process of externalization of migration management or whether we will uphold the rule of law and the EU acquis”.
